After the storm

We made it through the storm pretty well, personally.  Unfortunately the devastation around us is pretty bad.  We’ve only heard about 1 casualty (locally) so far, but the waters have yet to crest and the flooding will continue to get worse before it gets better.  We currently do not have power or internet, but of course my work does ;)  (hence the post).  I’ll have some pictures for you once we have power at home but for now we just have a lot of clean up work to do in our spare time.  We lost a tree onto our propane tank but luckily it isn’t leaking and we also lost a few others around the perimeter of the property.  Considering our house is surrounded by trees I’m feeling very very grateful!  The garden was hit pretty hard but I have hope that it will bounce back, well maybe not the corn… We got over 5 inches of rain, but only 5 miles away from us they got 10.25 inches, I am definitely considering 5 lucky!  Many of our friends had to leave their homes due to the flooding in the Schoharie Vally and the possibility of a Gilboa Dam breech.   This would turn a tough situation into a tragic one, so please pray that all will be well for those who would be effected!  The farm stands that we visit weekly are currently under water.  It’s hard enough to be a farmer but then to have to deal with mother nature wrecking your entire livelihood in 1 day? :( I really hope they come out ok.

The creek is taking over the bridges!  And flood waters won’t crest until later today.

Water flowing over Route 30 in the area of Breakabeen, ...

At least this wasn’t an ice storm I suppose…
