Our grape vines went from this in 2010:
To this in spring of 2011:
And this year we’re happy to announce we actually got some grapes!!
And we turned them into 9 jars of grape jelly!!
I’m thrilled that pruning them helped and that we didn’t kill the vines
That’s awesome! I’m glad you got so many grapes and I can’t believe you managed to make 9 jars of jelly. My grandpa used to have a grape vine but it never really made grapes – just more vines.
Okay, I clearly need to buckle down but I just found this online and thought it would be cute for your wedding if you have extra vegetables or anything too small to use!! http://www.mydiyweddingday.com/2010/10/fruit-veggie-wedding-escort-cards.html
OMG these are so so cute! I wish I saw them before! But today is the day so no last minute changes for me!
That is so much fun! I have champagne grapes and am going to run out and check them now.
Awesome! I need to do some real fences before my grapes do anything. They don’t do well with the random pruning of all leaves by goats.
We’ve mastered tomato juice at the Little House, I’m ready to move on to bigger and better things…. like grape jelly. Any tips?
Did your plants survive the frost okay?
Freaking out that you only have 5 days left? I know I was at that point
The grape jelly was so easy! Just heat the grapes with a little water and mash. ONce we had the juice I used gel pectin to make the jelly. The hardest part is getting the grapes to grow. We have concord grapes and we’re still learning the ins and outs.
We’ve done ok with frost since the last cold snap. We actually had a little Indian summer this weekend which the flowers have enjoyed!
I am majorly freaking out lol. I am so stressed with getting everything coordinated and together! Any tips?
