Yum! He’s off to the slaughter house at the end of the month and back in our freezer ~1 month after that. Just in time too, we’re almost out of hamburger!
We just ran out of hamburger and sent an animal last week…get to pick it up on Monday! Our freezer is waiting. There’s nothing like knowing where your food comes from! (even though we do get attached to our “beef”)
I know exactly what you mean! This guy, I don’t mind seeing him go. He’s kind of a bully and he’s not friendly, but our next steer, he’ll be hard to send. He loves a good neck rub and he’s a sweet guy in general…and we still have another year to get more attached. That will be tough!
I agree with Alica. It’s so gratifying knowing where it comes from! I’m not as lucky as the two of you but do work with a local rancher that I trust and enjoy buying his products.
