And then she dropped off the face of the earth…

Hi All!

It’s been a while, huh?  About 3 months or so… I thought it might be time for an update.  I have no idea what my plans are for this blog so for now we’ll just say there might be some sporadic posts about random stuff.  Really makes you want to stick around huh ? ;)

So onto the updates…

Luke:

The most important part of our life :)

Luke is growing so fast and it is completely blowing us away.  More than anything else, the saying, “the days are long but the years are short” describes our daily life.  This little boy is the light of our lives, so sweet and smiley and full of joy.  He also hates naps and frozen breast milk and is quite particular.  He’s doing so well though.  We’re still going strong with breastfeeding and cloth diapering too!

Cows:

Our cows are doing great.  They are off of pasture (we worry during hunting season) and hanging out in a large corral gate set up.  Our little girl is weaned and our momma appears to be bred and due around May.  Our steer is getting to be huge and he’s starting to get a tad pushy…

Chickens:

Are no more!  We finally decided it was time for our birds to hit the road.  We were paying ~$60 a month on feed and only getting about 3 dozen eggs.  Yeah we can’t afford $20/dozen eggs… Jon’s coworkers came over and took the birds for their dinner.

Me:

I have officially quit my fulltime job.  I’m now primarily a stay at home mom!  I do have a part time, seasonal position lined up to help cover Jon’s off season but outside of tax season, I will be a stay at home mom!  I’m excited to see what this means for our family and our future!

  1. I was wondering how you are doing! My goodness, your little guy has grown…and he is one handsome young man!! I’m sure you are thrilled! I’m happy for you that you can stay home with him…you’ll not regret it!!

  2. Howdy Stranger…dang good to see you!
Luke is adorable, and yup, they grow way too fast! I hope y’all are doing well, you look fantastic, and I’m looking forward to reading whatever you share. :)

  3. Oh my gosh! So much has happened in all this time. Congrats on Luke.

I started writing at a new blog, and moved to Vermont. Everything is going well, and we’re looking to buy land and start homesteading soon!
