We’ve been swaddling Luke to sleep since the first night he was born. It worked SO well to calm him down. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, he decided to start rolling… at 4 months old. We were so very excited until he started to roll in his swaddle. Then we became so very nervous…and desperate when he wouldn’t sleep longer than 20 minutes unswaddled. This desperate, sleep deprived momma did what she usually does when she has a question. She turned to the internet and researched the topic to death
. The only transitional aid that I found people talking about (with success) was the Zipadee-Zip. In a desperate attempt to get some sleep around here I contacted the owner, Stephanie to see if I could review her product.
One of his last swaddled sleeps:
Stephanie was so generous to send us one of her sleepers and the first night we used it actually followed his 4 month vaccinations. It was a rough day to say the least but we put him into the Zipadee-zip and like a miracle he slept for 6 hours straight! After that, we were sold.
The sleeper is made from a soft, stretchy material and provides just enough resistance to the baby’s arms to help sooth them, but if they roll over, they can still use their arms to roll back. Luke has rolled back and forth in his many times. The sleeper is so well made and comes in so many adorable designs. Luke is in a size small to provide a bit more resistance because he was used to sleeping swaddled.
This is how nap time typically starts with our little baby crab apple
Some mild fussing and whining…
Within just a few minutes Luke is able to calm himself down and fall asleep. This NEVER happened without the swaddle unless we spent a significant amount of time rocking him.
With the Zipadee-zip Luke has been sleeping from 8:00-4:30 and then waking to nurse. He then goes back down from 4:45-7 or 8am. Most nights anyways, with a baby everyone knows things are always bound to change!
Jon, Luke and I are so thankful for the Zipadee-Zip. Nothing makes us happier than a safe and well rested baby!!!
What a great idea! Almost makes me want to have another one…
He is adorable…and looks like he’s a happy, healthy little guy.
He is acute baby, that is great sleeping from 8:00 to 4:30. I wished they had one when my grown children were his age. It really looks like it works, I spent many night rocking and walking the floor. Great invention! Ellen from Georgia
What an adorable child and how nice of you to write a review for this product. Glad you found it.
