DIY Dining Room Table

So with future plans of a big family and holiday dinners, we really wanted a dining room table that could accommodate more than 4 people.  (Un)Fortunately the options for 10 foot tables were WAY out of our price range.  With that in mind we decided to put this tutorial to the test and build our own.  Take a look and let us know what you think:

Final Cost: $505 (including the cost of some new tools- pocket hole guide, square, level, etc.)

Average Purchase Price of a similar table: $1,000

We absolutely love it!  At a 50% savings, I’d say it was a great investment.  The strength and character of this piece makes it so special to us!

All of this went down while listening to Charlie Daniels on the 8-track.  “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”… just stick a pen in it to help it along ;)

And here I am right before prom.  I made that dress with a whole lot of help from my great aunt:

This picture is really old.  Back in my fearless days ;)   Luckily I never did that old four-wheeler too much damage (despite the time i flipped it over).  She’s still around and even runs on a good day (she’s older then I am!) ! 12

And last but not least we have picture of Timber.  This is my parents’ Great Pyrenees dog.  He was an old boy and a massive dog.  He loved us dearly, but didn’t care for strangers.  He was known to bite people he didn’t know…it’s the instinct and we were his flock to care for. 13

I guess that is all for now.  I just love going through old pictures!
